Adsense & Kontera - Do they go together ?
By Arnab January 19, 2007 filed in Miscellaneous, Internet Marketing, PPC, Newsletter
Since my post on Kontera the other day, I have received quite a few responses/comments on the subject. Since there was a lot of flutter last night in the US Internet Marketing community on this subject, I thought I would keep you updated. Since last evening discussions were raging about Google having allowed placements of other Contextual Text Ads along with Adsense on the same page. Some claimed that it was official now. Some others claimed that they had received communication from Google to that effect.
As with any Hot Topic there were also those many to contest this claim. To be really sure I went to the Google Adsense Site and their official blog on Adsense. I see no new post to support the claim, also, going through the Google Adsense TOS, I still see a definitive NO from Google to use Adsense and ads from other Contextual Networks like Kontera. Also, as far as I can see, one is currently not allowed to use Yahoo Publishing Network’s ads on the same page or website that has Adsense - The Yahoo Publishing Network’s ads look very similar to Google Adsense ads. Of course, I might have missed something, and would love to hear from you if you have some information to the contrary - Feel Free to add comments to this post letting us all know what you think !
My suggestion is, if you desperately want to use both on the same pages, please write to Google Adsense support and get your own confirmation. Works best if you have a direct clearance from them rather than risk it with someone else’s verification.
While we are on the Subject, I thought I would also quickly mention the other networks that you should be aware of and should explore as soon as you get the time. Just search for these on the web and you will find tons of information on them. I cant claim to have used these (like I could with Kontera), but would love to hear from any of you who has. Similar to Adsense but with slight variations are programs like Amazon Omakase, Chitika, and Intellitxt. To understand their strengths and how we can leverage on these, we should start using these on some of our sites. There are things that you learn from reading, there are others that you learn from doing yourself and experimenting. In the days, months and years to come, we should all be generating good traffic to our VRE. Makes sense to also experiment with what could generate the best results for specific websites.

Once you register with Kontera, they will take some time to approve your website (they take the time to go through each website, and each one has to be approved by them). This doesnt take more than a day usually.
Once they approve the website, they will send you a contextual code specific for the website. You would need to place it on all pages on your website before the tag. Thats it !
